What is premature ejaculation?

As defined by the ISSM (International Society for Sexual Medicine) premature ejaculation is:

The one that always happens, or almost always, you ejaculate in less than a minute after penetration.

When you never, or almost never, are able to delay ejaculation when you have sex.

If you feel distressed and frustrated, and tend to avoid sexual intimacy accordingly.

Types

Primary premature ejaculation: It has been present throughout the patient’s sexual life.
Secondary premature ejaculation: It appears later in the patient’s life, sometimes related to an erectile dysfunction problem.

Causes of premature ejaculation

Psychological premature ejaculation

It occurs because of tension and nervousness, being a new sexual encounter or having failed on previous occasions.

Organic premature ejaculation

It occurs when the patient has a hypersensitive glans, which causes him to ejaculate at the slightest contact or touch.

Defective learning

The patient learned to ejaculate without hardly any stimulation and it has become a habit that is repeated by default.

An under-diagnosed pathology
